A lot of Substacks are funny, a lot are informative, but few are BOTH so consistently as this one! I subscribed for the Great Salt Lake brine shrimp wedding, I stay for the Finnish non-binary bullies.

What sort of kids admit to bullying? Most actual bullies don’t seem that self aware: they think of themselves as just “having fun,” or just “telling tough truths,” or “maintaining order.” Why did the study authors choose the self report option for such a notoriously subjective topic?

I don't have the answers but I was asking myself the same thing. My guess is that the researchers flagged certain behaviors or actions, and that these were associated with bullying. Participants might not see those behaviors as necessarily bullying and then freely admit they do those things. I'm not sure, maybe I should read the study 😂

Great episode. We need more studies questioning the assumed hypothesis of minority stress! Don’t give up on this! It’s a great podcast and I do think you’ll get subscribers. Stick with it!!
